About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the National Ground Intelligence Center, Charlottesville, VA.
Serves as a General Military Intelligence Analyst for threat analysis and projection of land-warfare forces and operations.
Duties
Analyze intelligence information to assess land-warfare forces and operations within the Middle East and/or Africa.
Develop and maintain awareness of state and non-state/unconventional foreign military forces, capabilities, operations, trends, and threats within assigned geographic and functional areas.
Support the research of multi-discipline intelligence information and data and contribute to the evaluation of collected information.
Participate in research projects, contribute to development of analytic objectives and project scope, and identify and apply advanced research and analytical methods.
Prepare all-source written intelligence products to fulfill customer requirements in accordance with relevant policies, procedures, and formats.
Provide support to and conduct intelligence briefings on the assigned geographic and functional areas to DoD, Army, and Intelligence Community customers.
Assist with developing responses to requests for information and other customer requirements.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on a T5 (or equivalent level) investigation with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
- All INSCOM employees may be subject to extended TDY or worldwide deployments during crisis situations to perform mission essential functions as determined by management.
- Temporary Duty (TDY) Travel may be required 10% or less of the time.

This position is a developmental position hiring at the GG-07 or GG-09 level, with full-performance at the GG-12 level.
Selectees at the GG-07 or GG-09 level may be promoted non-competitively to the next grade level upon meeting the following requirements:
(1) Satisfactory demonstration of the ability to perform at the developmental/target grade.
(2) If there is higher level work at the developmental/target grade level.
(3) Assignment of increased responsibilities.
(4) Recommendation for promotion by supervisor.
(5) Satisfactory completion of all required training.
(6) Completion of all DCIPS regulatory requirements for promotions. Consequently, promotion(s) are not guaranteed.

Qualifications for GG-07:
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience applying research and/or data analysis methodologies and integrating results to produce preliminary written assessments. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-05).
Progressively responsible experience is that which has included intelligence-related research, analysis, collections and/or operations. This experience should have included intelligence analysis and/or production, intelligence collection and/or operations, counterintelligence, or threat support directly related to the position to be filled. This experience should demonstrate: Knowledge of intelligence processes, cycle and organizations; Knowledge of and/or ability to use research tools such as library holdings, photographs, statistics, graphics and maps; Knowledge of the systems, procedures and methods of analyzing, compiling, reporting and disseminating intelligence data; and/or Knowledge of organization(s) for and methods of collecting and analyzing intelligence data.
OR
A Bachelor's Degree that is closely related to the position. Closely Related constitutes a degree which has educated the student in pertinent, specific position-related subject matter allowing the student to develop knowledge and abilities directly applicable to the position being filled such as International Relations, Foreign Area Studies, Political Science, Geography, Foreign Affairs, International Law, History, Economics, Demography, Law, Sociology, Psychology, Military Science, Cartography, Social or Cultural Anthropology, and/or Data Analysis. A Bachelor's Degree that is supplemented by at least 15 semester hours or 22 quarters hours that are closely related to the position. (NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with application).

Qualifications for GG-09:
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience investigating intelligence, national security, or military issues for an assigned subject area and applying research and data analysis methodologies to produce preliminary written assessments. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-07).
Progressively responsible experience is that which has included intelligence-related research, analysis, collections and /or operations. This experience should have included intelligence analysis and/or production, intelligence collection and/or operations, counterintelligence, or threat support directly related to the position to be filled.
