About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25.
Duties
Responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks,
and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools.
Serve as an Information Security (INFOSEC) administrator required to Assess DoD enterprise networks and connected IT systems against DoD standards, as well as identify any known system vulnerabilities using approved DOD tools.
Continuously identify, protect, and ensure the compliance of all managed and unmanaged assets (IT, IoT, and OT) to manage cyber risk and mitigate threats.
Assess the security posture of classified and unclassified IS with respect to Anti-Virus (AV) protection using a variety of automated tools.
Remediate identified vulnerabilities on classified and unclassified ISs by using automated tools to distribute required system updates.
Install, configure, operate, and upgrade a variety of protective network appliances and applications such as firewalls,
intrusion detection and protection systems, wireless intrusions detection system, web filtering devices and other similar devices
Prepare and coordinate project authorization documents, operational benefit statement, cost comparisons of alternatives, status reports,
requirements documentation, risk analyses, and other technical documentation as required to fulfill network security compliance.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET clearance based on a Single Scope
Background Investigation (SSBI), the highest security clearance commensurate with classified
messaging available to the Installation.
- Must successfully pass urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter according to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program.
- This is an Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program position. Incumbent (or Selectee) is required to satisfactorily complete the appropriate training and obtain the certification/recertification for this position.
- Overtime and on-call duty may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays, and weekends in support of related mission requirements.
- May be required to perform 24 X 7 shift work in support of operational IT related mission/after duty hours on call/emergency requirements.
- Subject to callback requirement to report to duty within 2 hours of notification.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must clearly describe the following quality experience:
evaluating the security impact on all proposed security and technical changes to the network; maintaining documents or data pertaining to accreditation of automated information systems; identifying or reporting information security incidents and technical vulnerabilities; and ensuring compliance with applicable policy for the security, configuration, operation, maintenance, or installation of information technology systems.
The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined:
