As a Mail Clerk at the GS-0305-04/05, you will be part of Facilities, Security, and Emergency Management, Office of Personnel Management (OPM). If selected, you will be responsible for collecting, sorting, and delivering mail, documents, and packages to an established route and time schedule to mail points within specified OPM offices.
Duties
Collects, sorts, and delivers mail, documents, and packages to an established route and time schedule to mail points within specified OPM offices.
Assists in the processing and recording of accountable mail which requires special handling, e.g., registered, certified, insured, priority, using automated tracking system.
Operates postage mail equipment including electronically transferring postage funds for agency meters.
Packages various material for and processes outgoing mail and ensures delivery to the loading dock.
Qualifications
For the GS-04 Grade Level: You must have one year of progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of this position, such as:
collecting, sorting, and delivering mail or packages, and/or
providing clerical/administrative support utilizing office automation software, filing, compiling data and typing.
-Or-
Have completed 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree.
For the GS-05 Grade Level: You must have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-04 grade level performing all of the following duties:
providing administrative support to an organization;
preparing correspondence and reports;
mailing, filing, and inputting to and/or maintaining databases which support the administrative activities of an office.
-Or-
Have completed 4 academic years of post-high school leading towards a bachelor's degree.
Merit promotion applicants must meet the time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F.
One year at the GS-03 grade level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-04 grade level.
One year at the GS-04 grade level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-05 grade level.
You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
