Duties

You will adjust and regulate a variety of automatic and manually-controlled equipment to ensure maximum operating efficiency. You will investigate all reported oil spills or sheens on water that are within the local area designated as CNRSW's area of responsibility. You will conduct the required labeling and packing for all used oil collection pads according to current operating procedures for proper disposal. You will clean, maintain, and repair any permanent boom currently located under piers and in the water using the pressure washer for removing sea growth.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

Qualifications

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision. Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Separating, combining, and transporting hazardous chemicals and substances; 2) Operating specialized reclamation equipment; 3) Demonstrating knowledge of chemical characteristics of hazardous wastes to ensure safe processing and containment; 4) Performing preventative maintenance, demonstrating proper engineering practices, and repairing basic diesel engines and associated machinery; and 5) Following safe work practices, including the use of appropriate personnel protective equipment (PPE).
