About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the IMCOM, USAG Miami in Miami, FL.

Duties

Serves as a Security Specialist in a garrison Security Office within the Installation Management Command (IMCOM). Serves as a Security Specialist for one or more security programs (e.g. Industrial Security, Information Security, Personnel Security, or their associated training requirements) defined by the AR 380-series regulations. Interprets higher-level guidance and promulgates implementing directives and guidance to the Army organizations on the installation. Provides definitive technical advice and assistance to senior authorities. Conducts analyses to identify program issues. Advises the supervisor of recommended policy or procedural changes. Provides program oversight of the implementation processes at the installation.

Requirements

  • You may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two-year trial period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be able to obtain and then continue to maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Special Background Investigation for the duties required.
  • Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) may be required for approximately 15% of the time.
  • This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.

Current Army Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) Employee Army DCIPS positions apply Veteran's Preference to preference eligible candidates as defined by Section 2108 of Title 5 U.S.C., in accordance with the procedures provided in DoD Instruction 1400.25, Volume 2005, DCIPS Employment and Placement. In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Specialized experience equivalent to the GS/GG-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes analyzing and resolving security problems in at least 2 of the following fields: personnel security (PERSEC), information security (INFOSEC), or industrial security; and providing guidance to management on security solutions that support the integration of mission requirements. Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Operations SecurityPlanning and EvaluatingSecurity Program Management
