You will serve as a SUPERVISORY PHYSICAL SCIENCE TECHNICIAN in the Radiological Support Training Division, Radiological Control Office of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

Duties

You will develop and conduct training programs for management, engineering, radiological control personnel, nuclear workers, or general shipyard employees and visitors in order to fulfill training requirements of the Shipyard. You will interpret and apply policies, regulations, directives, instructions, and procedures governing radiological training in order to develop recommendations for changes and ensure compliance with procurement requirements. You will be responsible for training subordinates to prepare for, prevent, and respond to and recover from major radiological emergencies. You will coordinate efforts within the Shipyard, to assess current procedures, to resolve problems or deficiencies and to provide more specific guidance when none is available. You will be responsible for long-range and short-range planning and scheduling of training, allocating resources within the Branch to ensure deadlines are met.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialist experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: managing and directing training for a radiological control program by applying analytical methods, theoretical concepts, principles and practices of physical science sufficient to coordinate various phases of radiological control operations in support of Shipyard operations.
