You will serve as a Human Resources Specialist (Military) in the POW/MIA Division, Navy Casualty Office of NAVY PERSONNEL COMMAND.
Duties
You will attend national interest level family member update meetings and annual government briefings to provide logistical support to families in attendance.
You will maintain case files and family contact information utilizing the Defense Casualty Information Processing System (DCIPS) for missing sailors from past conflicts.
You will research inquiries from family members, members of congress and other interested persons regarding personnel unaccounted from past conflicts.
You will notify family members when remains are recovered and identified.
Requirements

- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Keeps families apprised of their individual cases to account for the missing.; 2) Use the Defense Travel System to process Next of Kin (NOK) travel requests and liquidate subsequent claims; 3) Research inquiries from family members, members of Congress and other interested parties regarding personnel unaccounted for from past conflicts; and 4) Schedule one-on-one case file reviews between family members and historical and scientific analysts.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree.
OR
Have successfully completed two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree.
OR

OR
Have a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
