About the Position: This position is located at the G3 Academics Instruction Division at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Fort Leonard Wood is located in the beautiful South-Central Missouri Ozarks. The Fort covers more than 61,000 acres and is located in Pulaski County, bordering Waynesville/St. Robert and Interstate 44. St. Louis is a 2-hour drive east and Springfield is a 1-hour drive west of Fort Leonard Wood.

Duties

Works under the supervision of the Chief, Instruction Branch, Academics, G-3/DoT, who assigns projects for which the incumbent is responsible. Supervises all employees within the section providing direct external customer-based instructional services, virtual and distance learning instructional production, and program administrative support to the MSCoE schools and staff directorates. Applies professional educational principles and theories implementing support to the Training Requirements and Analysis System product review process. Advises MSCoE leadership and staff on a broad range of leadership competencies, development and functions. Directly assists the MSCoE school professional military education and leader development efforts to incorporate various virtual and distance learning products. Analyzes, designs, develops, implements, and evaluates distributed learning courseware using the most current educational methodologies and concepts that are being disseminated from the Department of the Army, TRADOC and locally generated.

The course work must have included study in at least four of the following five areas: Learning theory, psychology of learning, educational psychology: Study of learning theories as they relate to the systematic design, development, and validation of instructional material. Instructional design practices: Study of the principles and techniques used in designing training programs, developing design strategy and models, and applying design methods to the improvement of instructional effectiveness. Educational evaluation: Study of the techniques for evaluating the effectiveness of instructional/educational programs, including developing written and performance tests and survey instruments, and determining reliability and validity of evaluation instruments. Instructional product development: Study of the techniques appropriate for developing training materials, including identifying learner characteristics, specifying objectives, applying training strategy, validating training materials, and evaluating training. Computers in education and training: Study of the application of computers in education and training, including selecting appropriate computer software. Some positions in this series may specialize in one or two functional areas, where more specific academic preparation may be necessary. For such positions, agencies may require course work in the applicable functional area(s) as part of the above-required 24 semester hours. (NOTE: You must attached a copy of your transcript.) In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience in developing training products, getting training products (POI, Lesson Plans, CAD, TSP, etc.) approved thru CAC and above, and delivering those products to the customer thru Distance Learning and Virtual learning methods. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
