Duties

Develops and administers an installation wide ASAP prevention and education program to include goals, objectives and milestones for military and civilian employees. Identifies target groups and develops local program plans and procedures to meet the needs of all levels on the installation and that comply with DOD, DA, and command policy, goals, and objectives. Designs special courses in response to identified ASAP trends and needs of the installation to include counternarcotics focused training. Directs the ASAP Training Program and campaigns as directed by the Army Center for Substance Abuse Programs. Assists in the development of local on-going substance abuse prevention programs involving youth, parents, and other concerned adults from the surround.

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as Psychology or Counseling OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1)Assisting in developing substance abuse or prevention program goals and objectives; (2) collecting behavioral data to implement prevention strategies to reduce high-risk behavior; (3) assessing risk to develop long and short-term prevention plans; AND (4) participating in developing training modules, lesson plans and/or facilitating training in subjects such as substance abuse risk reduction for an organization This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Behavior of Social Science, or a related field appropriate for the position. (Must include transcripts) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education and TrainingOral CommunicationPlanning and EvaluatingProblem Solving Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
