You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST of DEPUTY UNDER SECRETARY OF THE NAVY.
Duties
You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day security tasks area of responsibility, to include the creation of security documentation aligned with DON and DoD Policy.
You will apply a comprehensive knowledge of Information, Industrial, and Operations security programs in support of the objectives and plans of the DON.
You will prepare correspondence to support action and decisions by DON Security Enterprise Senior Executives.
You will review and evaluate security related incidents to make recommendations to prevent reoccurrence.
You will analyze and evaluate security regulations, procedures, methods, practices, or techniques to develop options, recommendations, or decisions.
You will develop, evaluate, maintain, policies, procedures, and methods used for safeguarding unclassified, unclassified and classified information.
You will utilize general security knowledge and experience to support the Department of the Navy Security Enterprise and be well versed in other security disciplines.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- DoD SPeD certification is required within 24 months of assuming the position and must be
maintained through the entire length of appointment. Declining to gain SPeD certification or loss of
certification during employment is grounds for removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience utilizing and updating security policy and procedures.
Experience in oral and written communication.
Experience analyzing and resolving security training issues.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.M., if related
