About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, 404th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, Transportation Division, at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.

Duties

Perform a variety of freight rate and shipment clerical duties in support of installation freight shipment requirements. Perform freight rate work by arranging for domestic shipments over 10,000 pounds for surface and under 1,000 pounds for air. Review Freight Classification System by stock number or National Motor Freight Classification guide to determine appropriate freight classification code. Follow established criteria for distributing tonnage between eligible motor carriers. Arrange shipment for any quantity or priority shipment requiring movement overseas by air. Advise serviced organizations as to the proper procedures for requesting transportation and preparation of shipments to assure adherence to all military and civilian regulatory guidelines. Prepare, review, and issue a variety of documents and forms.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
