About the position: This position will be assigned to the Fitness Center on Tyndall AFB, FL.

Duties

Assists the Fitness & Sports (FS) Program Manager in the overall management and operation of the Fitness and Sports Center. Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the facility to include assumption of the Upper Level management (as determined by the FS Program Manager) duties in their absence. Supervises and evaluates assigned staff based on established performance and training standards and provides appropriate professional recognition and/or disciplinary action. Provides staff with recurring feedback and communication of organizational policies and goals. Establishes employee work schedules in coordination with program managers to ensure proper personnel are available for operations and execution of programs. Performs duties associated with timekeeping for all staff members. Conducts in-processing and training for new employees for specific fitness area, to include, coordination with external organizations for training requirements and access to proper documents and computer systems. Assists with the development, implementation, monitoring and documentation of a comprehensive training plan, in coordination with program managers, to ensure all staff members possess the necessary skills and knowledge for their position. Ensures facility checklists are updated to reflect current operational standards and organizational relevance. Assist with processing performance evaluations. Supports front desk operations as needed. Assists in the development of staff & facility policies. Manages programs associate with the operations of the facility to include; HAZMAT/HAZWASTE, Safety, Fire, Equipment and Building Custodian, Funds Protection, and Government Purchase Card (GPC), etc. Ensures self-assessments are completed as required to ensure compliance with higher level guidance. Oversees facility cleanliness contracts and standard operating procedures. Assists in developing and managing operational budget. Determines program resource requirements and prepares justification for funding. Utilizes automated systems to collect and maintain up-to-date statistical data for planning and reporting purposes. Assists with development of operational procedures to anticipate installation needs and trends and provides results for inclusion in the Fitness and Sports Center Operations Plan. Coordinates with external organizations for required services and/or promotion of programs. Oversees and maintains operations of Staff. Obtain & maintain GOV License for driving requirements. Qualifying Experience: Have experience in the knowledge, rules, procedures and operations related to one or more indoor/outdoor recreation function in a fitness and sports environment. Knowledge of programs to include facilities management, safety, fire & environmental regs, practices & procedures, facility design & equipment selection & purchase. Be able to work independently w/ Microsoft Office. Demonstrated specialized experience working in a fitness center. Have supervisory experience. Work requires physical exertion such as long periods of standing; recurring activities such as bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, & reaching; frequent lifting and carrying of object up to 100lbs. Be able to work an uncommon tour of duty; nights, weekends, and holidays. Be able to read, write and speak English. Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements.
