About the Position: This position is at the Defense Health Agency, Assistant Director, Healthcare Administration location in Falls Church, Virginia.
Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.
Leave accrual negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.
Prefer experience as General Officer/Flag Officer. Prefer extensive knowledge of the Defense Travel System.
Duties
Serve as senior leadership's primary point of contact for internal and external customers.
Establish internal procedures to ensure deadlines, progress reports, and directives are completed on time.
Receive high ranking visitors which includes consultants, contractors, members of Congress, press, and foreign officials to the organization.
Provide smooth communication between senior leadership and internal departments.
Compose routine and non-routine correspondence for senior leadership.
Utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to create reports, memorandum, letters, briefings, and presentations.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

GS-11 Minimum Qualifications
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes composing correspondence, reports, and assisting in arranging travel plans; researching information for leadership; utilizing modern automation systems such as, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Outlook Calendar to draft correspondence, reports and/or briefings, and maintain calendars. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR
Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Human Resources, Business Management, or Business Administration.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
GS-12 Minimum Qualifications
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing an active calendar of appointments, composing correspondence, proofreading documentation, managing taskers effectively and arranging complex travel plans; obtaining information for leadership for use in various meetings, discussions, or conferences; utilizing modern automation systems such as, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Outlook Calendar to prepare reports and/or briefings. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Qualified typist is required (40 wpm).
