Salary: $41 - 48 per hour

You will serve as a MACHINERY REPAIR SHOPS (SUPERVISOR I) in CODE 1422.3, Norfolk Naval Shipyard Detachment, Naval Foundry and Propeller Center of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will supervisor a varied multiple trade work force at the first level management. You will be responsible for the corrective maintenance, preventative maintenance, installation, overhaul lubrication, calibration, modification and spare parts inventory of machine tools. You will be responsible for calibration, inspection, issue, purchase, and storage of all tooling and precision measuring instruments. You will be responsible for coordinating and scheduling the work of your section. You will receive work assignments from higher level management. You will keep higher management informed of progress of assignments, and the status of emergent work and its potential impact on production. You will be responsible for accurate accounting of labor hours worked and leave hours taken by subordinates. You will be responsible for accurate records of work performed by subordinates.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE Experience supervising and providing technical direction. Experience interpret and analyze complex trade related issues. Experience staying abreast of modern maintenance techniques. Experience in optical, laser and precision measuring equipment, air conditioning, and ventilation theory, systems and components, mechanical, electrical hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic theory, systems and components. Experience with interpretating work instructions, blueprints and other pertinent information. Experience with training subordinates. Experience with changing technology and new methods. Experience with industry standards and occupational safety and environmental regulations. Experience with Facility Equipment Management Systems (FEMS) to provide record timekeeping schooling data or similar. Experience with Computer Numerical Control (CNC) processors.
