Job opening: PRODUCTION SHOP PLANNER

Salary: $39 - 46 per hour

You will serve as a PRODUCTION SHOP PLANNER in the Procurement Branch (Code 1410.2) in the Business Operations Division (Code 1410) of the Naval Foundry and Propeller Center (NFPC) (Code 1400) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will determine itemized list of materials needed, performs market research of consumables and initiate procurement activities to acquire them, tracks them while ensuring timely delivery to the production shop. You will utilize the Material Management System (MMS) and Microsoft Office Suite to carry out work assignments, interpret information, and provide reports. You will reviews assigned work requests for accuracy and completeness. You will perform market research of requested goods and/or services to determine the proper procurement path through the mandatory source listings. You will will maintain a record of the status of material including date, work request number, item description, job order, document number, received date, and (location if in activity- expected delivery date if outside purchase, etc.). You will work in conjunction with financial and fund administrator personnel in requesting and assigning properly designated job orders to respective purchases. You will reconcile all government issued purchase card purchases on a monthly basis and organize required supplemental documentation. You will work in conjunction with and communicates with all levels of personnel (general worker, work leaders, Supervisors, General Foremen, Production Superintendent, and all upper management) from various trade groups in coordinating work.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.

The Screen-out Element for this position is ABILITY TO DO THE WORK WITH MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISON Experience facilitating the purchase of goods and services through the national stock system, as well as providing supplemental and supporting documentation of all purchases made. Experience reviewing work requests/job material listings, related instructions, and drawings to determine materials and equipment needed to accomplish the work outlined. Experience providing planning and procurement support for a multitude of various trades to ensure timely delivery of goods to align with productions schedules. Experience utilizing the Material Management System (MMS) and Microsoft Office Suite to carry out work assignments, interpret information, and provide reports. Experience maintaining professional working relations with in-process engineers, manufacturing shop supervisors, machinists, foundry personnel, and production controllers while maintaining their technical expertise and judgement regarding cost estimates. Experience following up with private suppliers and supply department to ensure timely delivery of goods to align with productions schedules.
