Located with DIR OF PLANS, TRNG, MOB & SECURITY TRAINING DIVISION, UT&C JAPANESE SUPPORT BRANCH at Fort Bliss, TX.
Serves as the Operations Officer and advisor to the Unit Training and Certification Division, providing operational support to all elements relating to planning, coordination, and execution of staff actions and assignments.
Duties
Supervise a staff of 8 subordinates
Assigning work by outlining overall objectives and available resources.
Determining the most appropriate law, policy, regulation, principles, practices, methods and approaches to accomplish the work.
Conducting research and provides advisories and recommendations for the resolution of complex and/or controversial or unprecedented issues, problems and conflicts.
Exercise expert knowledge of UTCD operations, plans, force integration, organization and resource requirements and the missions and functions of the operational forces.
Executing tasks into all facets of administration and operations and keeps track of progress and potential controversial matters.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A satisfactory medical examination is required prior to assignment into the position due to heavy lifting up to 60 lbs.
- This position is designated mission essential.
- TDY travel is occasionally required.
- Completion of Security Cooperation Office, Operations and Management Intermediate SC232 within 90 days of entrance on duty.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing operational support to all elements relating to the planning, coordination, and execution of numerous staff actions and assignments; AND managing and coordinating major safety and training programs; AND coordinating with higher headquarters as well as adjacent and subordinate organizations to support agency operations; AND providing technical guidance and assistance to staff activities and subordinate units to improve and assess the efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12 level).
