You will serve as a SUPERVISORY IT SPECIALIST (OS/SYSADMIN) in the IT Division of NAVAL AIR WEAPONS STATION CHINA LAKE.

Duties

You will develop and present training on the operation and maintenance of new systems. You will develop solutions to support mitigation and resolution of information technology (IT) customer complaints on computer issues. You will plan and coordinate the installation of new products or equipment; e.g., servers. You will assign projects in terms of scope, general objectives, and time limitations.

• Call back and emergency overtime are regular requirements of this position.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card to make official government purchases for goods and services.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) planning scope of work to be accomplished by subordinates and preparing schedules for completion of work; 2) developing and presenting training on the operation and maintenance of new systems to the IT staff; 3) implementing system diagnostic and maintenance tools to ensure the availability and functionality of systems; 4) maintaining computer and network systems software and hardware and documenting physical configurations and operating procedures; 5) planning and coordinating installation of new products or equipment; working closely with customer officials; resolving installation problems and identifying security vulnerability and risks; 6) resolving complex customer issues, troubleshooting and advising customers to provide support, minimizing interruptions to business operations; and 7) installing and maintaining operating environment to include: compilers, utilities, communications systems, system management products, third-party systems software, security packages, scheduling systems and applications software packages.
