You will serve as a Data Scientist in the Command Data Office (CDO) of HEADQUARTERS US INDO-PACIFIC COMMAND.

Duties

You will be responsible for informing capability architecture, solving complex/difficult technical problems, adapting to rapidly changing requests for analysis, and maintaining the highest standards of trust and technical competence. You will lead analytical problem formulation and the application of analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to develop use cases and identify and resolve operational problems. You will manage higher headquarters and internal taskings to completion. You will leverage data mining techniques and strategies sufficient to apply data analysis and predictive modeling techniques to data from disparate sources using baseline programming software tools. You will develop and provide oversight of headquarters data management and governance functions, including managing and supporting headquarters data steward and associated data working groups or boards.

• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional Data Scientist. I am able to communicate well both orally and in writing. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying a broad range of data analysis, mathematics, statistical analysis, modeling/simulation, or other scientific concepts, principles, standards, methods, techniques, practices, and procedures; 2) Working with large and complex data sets to perform extensive analysis of volumes of data through macros, pivot tables, etc.; 3) Designing and delivering frameworks to facilitate data development; 4) Using various data integration services and data visualization tools to accurately represent data. Education

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science, or a field directly related to the position. Or, you must have a combination of education and experience, where your courses are equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science, or a field directly related to the position, plus additional education or appropriate experience that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus your percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
