About the Position: Serves as Inspector General for 4th Infantry Division located at Fort Carson, Colorado.
Duties
Serves as an Assistant Inspector General (AIG) in the performance of the four Inspector General(IG) functions – inspections, assistance, investigations, and “teach and train” - for the specific purpose of enhancing the command’s readiness.
Serves as an Assistant Inspector General.
Provides complete and comprehensive service to all clients in response to Inspector General Action Requests (IGARs), including conducting inspections, and assistance in conducting investigations and investigative inquires.
Adhere to the inspector general tenet of confidentiality and the restrictions placed on the distribution and use of IG records.
Serves as subject matter expert and primary trainer for IG intelligence oversight issues.
Provides assistance services by receiving, evaluating, and processing IGARs for soldiers, family members, retirees, civilian and contractor employees, and others in the general public.
Determines the proper course of action and directs the action necessary to resolve the complaint.
Conducts IG fact-finding inquires by gatheringrelevant information, make prompt inquires into the substance of complaint and renders a fair,impartial, and objective determination.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The incumbent in this position is required to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance with SCI access.
- This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Abuse Testing Program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R or a memorandum of understanding (MOU).
- Incumbent must successfully complete the Inspector General Course, TIG-U within 90 days of employment, and refresher training conducted every three years IAW AR-20-1.
- Incumbent must take the Inspector General’s oath of office. Incumbent must maintain IG confidentiality of cases and/or clients on and off duty IAW AR-20-1.
- Incumbent must not have a substantiated allegation in the IG data base.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Specialized Experience: one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes conducting work that involves in completing Inspector General Action Requests (IGARs) or other service equivalent IG request for action requiring Army and/or other federal service assistance, investigations regarding filed complaints and allegations; conducting Inspector General inspections to gather facts, ascertain compliance; identifying problems and recommend solutions to senior leaders in inspection reports.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
