At the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), we are at the forefront in preventing and detecting terrorist financing, money laundering, and other financial crime. Serve at the nation's financial intelligence unit and protect the United States financial system from criminals and terrorist financiers.
Duties
This position is located in our Office of Chief Counsel. As a Paralegal Specialist, you will:
Support the Chief Counsel, Deputy Chief Counsel(s), and attorneys in the office in all legal matters relevant to FinCEN, including litigation, rulemaking and related policy work, employment, ethics, and Freedom of Information and Privacy Act (FOIA/PA) matters.
Support sensitive matters and requests relating to the U.S. anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism regimes, as well as associated law enforcement and national security issues, requiring access to Secret Information.
Provide assorted paralegal assistance to attorneys within OCC, with an emphasis on case management for litigation, rulemaking, and information (FOIA/PA) matters.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
-Experience reviewing issues or other matters relating to Federal or State laws, regulations, policies, or programs; OR
-Experience preparing detailed legal documents that identify, discuss, and analyze relevant legal principles; OR
-Experience examining and responding to inquiries provided to the federal, state, or local government.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
