About the Position:
This position is assigned to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Community and Family Policy (DASD (MC&FP), Assistant Secretary of Defense for Manpower and Reserve Affairs (M&RA), Office of the Under Secretary of Defense, Personnel and Readiness (USD (P&R)).
Duties
Assist in governing a broad range of communication and online content operation programs and services addressing the needs and challenges of service members and their families.
Develop a variety of communication and online content operation programs, services, and training responsive to the needs of service members and their families.
Participate in directing and shaping policies, media and community relations strategies and engagements, and production of
communications materials and online content.
Incorporate online content usage trends analysis of program requirements into policy recommendations.
Work to develop an effective strategy for use and implementation of new media, in tandem with traditional public relations in support of online content operations.
Plan, execute, and finalize communication and online content operation projects according to strict deadlines and within budget.
Requirements

Specialized Experience for GS 13: One year of specialized experience which includes analyzing communication and online content strategies, creating social media strategies to define online platforms of programs, collaborating on communication plan development and execution, and overseeing production of communications materials.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
Specialized Experience for GS 14: One year of specialized experience which includes developing communication and online content strategies, measuring the effectiveness of social media strategies, shaping policies or media relation strategies for programs, and identifying deficiencies in existing programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Time in Grade Requirement for GS 13: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
Time in Grade Requirement for GS 14: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
A writing sample may be required by management within the interview process.
