About the Position: Serves as a Management Support Assistant, plans and carries out the work of the office. Handles problems and deviation in accordance with established instructions, priorities, commitments and program goals.

Duties

Manages and directs centralized office support for correspondence, mail, records management, forms control and publications control. Operates office automation equipment utilizing a variety of software to generate and edit a variety of correspondence, documents, charts, or reports. Reviews and edits all output documents for accuracy, syntax, neatness, quality, and for regulatory compliance. Directs centralized office support for correspondence, mail, records management,forms control, and publications control. Provides technical and administrative guidance on a variety of functions in support of administration.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • May require probationary period of one year.
  • May require TDY 5% of the time.

One year of specialized experience which includes 1) using office automation software to complete clerical tasks 2)reviewing documents for grammatical correctness 3) managing office support for correspondence, mail, records management, forms control,and publications control 4) assist with incoming correspondence to screening items to forward to the supervisor or the staff. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
