Duties

Plan weekly and monthly work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates. Establish deadlines and priorities on the basis of general work schedules and methods and policies established by higher levels of supervision. Explain work requirements, methods and procedures; Instruct subordinates in new procedures. Review work in progress or on completion. Adjust plans, assignments, and methods as necessary to accomplish the work as effectively and economically as feasible. Develop performance standards, counsel employees on performance, and make formal and informal performance appraisals.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Position maybe filled as a time -limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade NTE 1 year by current permanent Army employee.
• Time-limited appointments may be extended up to a maximum of 5 years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed 5 years, however return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition.
• This position involves duties which are subject to Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) regulations regarding hazardous wastes.
• This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
• Due to the nature of this position, employees may be required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
• TDY Travel of 5% may be required

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Machinist Supervisor without more than normal supervision which includes: (1) Supervising or leading artisans in a manufacturing/ majors/minors value stream industrial environment; (2) Setting work schedules, establishing priorities, and reviewing employees work in progress or upon completion; (3) Planning work sequences to have work completed by established deadlines; and (4)Working knowledge of machining processes, equipment and tools to explain machining operation requirements, methods and procedures. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below.
