You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER in the FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES DEPARTMENT of NAS JRB NEW ORLEANS.
Duties
You will provide all basic and intermediate and advanced life support measures in addition to using invasive medical procedures including intravenous therapy, cardiac defibrillation, administering medication, and using ventilation devices.
You will direct EMS providers in delivering medical aid to the sick and/or injured patient.
You will conduct medical training/courses for department personnel such as CPR, First Responder, Infectious Disease Control, recurring Continuing Medical Education for EMTs and First Responders.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Emergency Vehicle Operations Certification (EVOC).
Qualifications
This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Firefighter I & II, Airport Firefighter, HazMat Incident Commander, Driver/Operator-Aerial, Driver/Operator-Pumper, Driver/Operator-ARFF, Confined Space Rescue, Fire Officer I & II, Fire Inspector I, Fire Instructor I, and NREMT-Paramedic. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. Copies of Certifications MUST be submitted with application to verify eligibility.****
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying principles, practices, and techniques applicable to crash, and structural firefighting, fire suppression, emergency medical services and rescue techniques; 2) Training personnel in fire protection/ prevention, and emergency medical response; and 3) Managing a hazardous materials protection and control program (i.e., knowledge of hazardous materials used; development of contingency plan; deployment of vehicles with specialized equipment, etc.).
