You will serve as a Fire Protection Specialist of NAS JRB NEW ORLEANS.

Duties

You will administer training, orientation, indoctrination, and education programs for fire safety and awareness.. You will evaluate firefighter training (e.g., practical evolutions, live fire training) for improvement. You will present fire protection and prevention education or training to employees.

Requirements

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: : 1)Administering a training program for fire protection and prevention to include structural firefighting, aircraft crash and rescue response, fire prevention, and emergency medical services 2) Developing and submitting a training budget for fire and emergency services 3) Creating and Conducting training courses on fire safety practices and procedures 4) Evaluating performance during training exercises and routine duties to recommend changes to exercise or additional training. This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Fire Officer III, Fire Instructor III, Fire Inspector II, HazMat IC, HazMat Technician, Airport (ARFF) Firefighter, EMT or Paramedic. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement.
