The selectee for this position will serve as a SHEET METAL MECHANIC in the Sheet Metal Shop (17A), Hull Division (TRF-310), Repair Department (TRF-300), TRIDENT Refit Facility, and Kings Bay, Georgia.
Duties
You will utilize a variety of complicated measuring instruments such as protractors, calipers, various gauges, and other hand devices to accurately measure plans and projects for items with numerous and irregular angles, planes, and curves.
You will remove, alter, repair, fabricate, and install a variety of sheet metal items and systems aboard submarines.
You will interface, coordinate, and plan various work assignments with machinists, electricians, carpenters, shipfitters, and support trades such as welding, grinders, inspectors, etc. when required.
You will cut, bend, and form metal pieces to required specifications.

- Shift and overtime assignments will be made to meet operational needs.
- You may be required to travel as the need arises for purposes such as training, attendance at meetings, and participation in work efforts at other shore activities and onboard ships and submarines at sea.
- Completion of specific training will be required.
- You must be able to maintain an IT II designation.

Serve as a Sheet Metal Mechanic responsible for performing rip outs, fabrications, alterations, repairs, and installations of a variety of sheet metal items and systems.
Develop patterns, make templates, and lay out sheet metal items and systems.
Remove, alter repairs, fabricate, and install a variety of sheet metal items and systems.
Cut, bend, and form metal pieces to required specifications using complicated tools and equipment such as slip roll forming machines, box and pan brakes, rotary machines, crimpers, beading machines and computer lay out machines.
Fabricate items and systems with dovetailed seams, set-in-bottom seams, burred-bottom seams, or wired or lock seams to perform job tasks assigned.
Install sheet metal items or systems and performs riveting, soldering, spotwelding, and gas tungsten-arc welding as needed.
Interface, coordinate, and plan various work assignments with other assisting shops.
Maintain the ability to interpret instructions, specifications, blueprints, etc. to perform job duties.
Possess the ability to use and maintain hand and powers tools related to the sheet metal trade.
Maintain knowledge on the construction, repair, forging, etc. of sheet metal equipment, structures, and materials.
Utilize a variety of measuring instruments such as protractors, calipers, various gauges, and other hand devices to accurately measure plans and projects.
