Duties
Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following:
Assessing the efficiency, effectiveness, costs and benefits of current and proposed policy, regulations, and statutes then propose new policies, regulations, and statutes to meet the objectives and goals related to DIU modernization priorities.
Analyzing the impact of current and proposed policy, regulations, and statutes; developing potential courses of action to senior staff; and coordinating and drafting organizational responses.
Conducting research and preparing policy positions, briefings, white papers, and reports that will contribute to the continued technological superiority of US forces and advance top modernization priorities to benefit DoD stakeholders.
Monitor and assess statutory, regulatory, and policy developments that affect DIU operations; provide assessments of the impact; and develop potential courses of action for senior staff.
Research and analyze potential tech policy and regulatory gaps related to emerging technology areas in DIU's portfolio, including acquisition pathways, import/export controls, environmental, and other regulatory practices, to identify potential risks and areas for improvement in achieving the objectives of the National Defense Strategy (NDS); propose and compose forward-looking written materials to communicate these issues to and coordinate on addressing them with other Department stakeholders.
Requirements

- Individuals tentatively selected for drug testing designated positions will be required to submit to urinalysis for illegal drugs prior to appointment and are subjected to random drug testing.
- Position has been designated as Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information, Special-Sensitive. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
- The incumbent must adhere to DoD Standards of Conduct
- This position requires you to submit a Financial Disclosure Form (OGE 450) upon appointment.
Qualifications
Time in Grade:
For entry at the NH-04 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a NH-03 or higher grade in the Federal Service.
Specialized Experience:
For the NH-04, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the NH-03 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to NH-03 if outside the Federal service.
Specialized experience is defined as: experience researching and analyzing policies and procedures, preparing briefings and other reports that contribute towards modernization of the agency, and composing written materials to communicate potential issues to department stakeholders.
In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements, qualified applicants must also possess the quality of experience as it relates to how closely or to what extent an applicant's background, recency of experience, education, and training are relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the announced position. Candidates must clearly demonstrate the possession of competencies necessary to successfully perform the work of the position at the appropriate level to be qualified for the position. Applicants must describe how their experience meets the competencies within the body of the resume. No separate statements addressing competencies are required.

Education
There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experience at the NH-04 grade level.
