The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Prevention Analyst at an Air Force/Space Force installation. Under the direction of the Integrated Prevention Chief, the Prevention Analyst leads collection, analysis, interpretation, and visual implementation of data for the installation Integrated Resilience Office.

Duties

DUTY 1: Organizes all aspects of integrated prevention program planning, assessment, evaluation, and continuous monitoring of prevention activities for the installation. Serves as research, planning, and evaluation subject matter expert for installation primary prevention efforts and development of the bi-annual Community Action Plan {CAP), operationalizing DAF resilience and prevention strategy for the installation. DUTY 2: Leads integrated prevention data collection, analysis, and presentation through regular updates to the Community Action Board {CAB), Community Action Team {CAT), unit leadership, and relevant forums, as requested. Provides oversight, direction and assistance related to data collection and analysis to the IRO leadership and staff, community action partners, and unit leadership. DUTY 3: Applies knowledge and understanding of research-based primary prevention strategies and programs to inform the installation prevention process. Identifies, adapts, and evaluates research-based prevention programs, policies, and practices effectively and in collaboration with individual(s) or entities responsible for prevention programming and other relevant oversight in accordance with federal laws and applicable regulations. DUTY 4: Accomplishes professional development and maintains proficiency through interaction with technical and professional societies, associations, academia, symposia, contractors, research and development organizations, and participation in formal training programs. Keeps current on available and emerging theory, techniques and methods through independent study, and reviewing technical journals and current literature.

  • Position requires flexibility and adaptability to implement DAF's frequent program and policy modifications, which are often quickly made in response to evolving environments, mission sets and risk/protective factors.

Qualifications

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Professional and Scientific Positions. BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have or will have within 120 days of closing of this announcement, at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-02, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-11 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience includes experience organizing all aspects of integrated prevention program planning, assessment, evaluation, and continuous monitoring of prevention activities in areas such as sexual assault, family violence, workplace violence, suicide, and alcohol/substance abuse. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Comprehensive and professional knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies as well as behavioral, social science and/or public health practices principles and theories relating to the prevention of violence and promotion of helping-seeking and resilience. 2. Thorough knowledge of a wide range of delivery systems relating to violence prevention and the multiple uses of such systems. 3. In-depth knowledge of DAF culture, military family dynamics, related professional fields, and a thorough knowledge of the DAF community and the unique challenges that DAF families face; or equivalent knowledge. 4. Knowledge of quantitative techniques and methods used to develop, adapt, modify, and apply models to resolve problems or define and clarify alternative solutions to inform prevention efforts; ability to formulate and conduct assessments and evaluations to implement and monitor primary prevention plans. 5. Skill and ability to provide professional advisory services, develop and utilize appropriate data collection techniques and design, build, and use models and simulation techniques for prevention. 6. Ability to identify individual and community risk and protective factors in order to determine needed primary prevention activities to meet the needs of the base populace. 7. Ability to work well with others in a team approach and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
