About the Position: Serves as Director for the Historical Programs Directorate of the Center of Military History. As Program Manager, is responsible for providing advice to the Chief of Military History on a wide variety of subjects, with special cognizance of and responsibility in such areas as production of Army historical products in multiple media formats; library and archives operations; and command history and engagement programs.

Duties

Oversees the coordination and all aspects of the planning, research, development, fielding, and support of web-based, digital, audio, and print-based historical products. Responsible for reviewing, updating, and implementing appropriate chapters of Army Regulation 870- 5, Military History: Responsibilities, Policies, and Procedures. Review digital services and program delivery for potential efficiencies based on joint service initiatives and/or federal partnership opportunities. Maintaining a high level of awareness of digital, network and applicable regulatory requirements, management principles, and the application of technology to support historical programs. Centrally manages the budget and expenditure of funds for assigned missions via spend plan. Plans manpower requirements, training, travel, and projects to ensure the proper expenditure of funds. Performs a full range of supervisory responsibilities. Maintains responsibility for accomplishment of all EEO goals and objectives in accordance with Department of Army policy.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • A one-year supervisory probationary period may be required if not already served.
  • TDY of 20% may be required.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
