You will serve as a PORT SERVICES TECHNICIAN in the PORT OPERATIONS DIVISION of NAVBASE KITSAP SILVERDALE WA.
Duties
You will receive/disseminate/update schedules and schedule changes for vessel movement and traffic in/out of the naval installation for tugs, dive boats, workboats, security boats, barges, floating cranes, and naval vessels.
You will coordinate security sweeps of vessels requesting entry into naval waterfronts.
You will liaison with ships to determine operating schedules and pier assignments, opening and closing of Port Security Barrier, and setting oil boom.
You will provide continuous radio support for harbor and maintains harbor movement logs.
You will be familiar with general harbor operations and have a background in Port Operations functions including tugs, service craft, docking evolutions, etc. to sufficiently dispatch and coordinate harbor evolutions.
Requirements

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You will be responsible for following all requirements concerning the use, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
- The incumbent may be required to work rotating shifts.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1) Using experience to receive/disseminate/update schedules and schedule changes for vessel movement and traffic in/out of the naval installation (i.e. tugs, dive boats, workboats, security boats, barges, floating cranes, and naval vessels; 2) Determining operating schedules and pier assignments, opening and closing of Port Security Barrier, and setting oil boom; 3) Calculating and recommending optimum ship arrival or departure times based on tide and current conditions; 4) Using navigational tools to identify vessel locations and plot vessel movements on coastal navigational charts; and 5) Relaying information to vessels, such as transit times, distances, and conditions; 6) Providing continuous radio support for harbor and maintaining harbor movement logs.(NOTE: Your answer must be supported by information in your resume.)
