You will serve as a SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the Commander Navy Region of NAS JRB NEW ORLEANS.
Duties
You will serve as a safety consultant, advising management and workers on safety requirements and potential accident causing situations and preventing accidents.
You will schedule and perform periodic surveys and inspections to evaluate the effectiveness of safety requirements and practices in the work environment.
You will investigate mishaps and obtain statements from witnesses, photograph mishap scenes, and records circumstances or mishap and extent of injuries.
You will review plans and specifications for new constructions, building alterations, and/or changes in installation equipment to ensure compliance with safety codes and standards.
Requirements

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector:
1) Analyzing data on work operations, mishaps, and safety practices to prepare reports of findings that propose corrective measures for unsafe conditions and hazardous work practices; 2) Investigating mishaps, hazard reports, and unsafe or unhealthful working conditions to protect personnel and property; 3 Advising personnel of safety and occupational health measures to control or eliminate hazardous operating processes; and 4) Conducting safety and occupational health inspections and surveys to evaluate effectiveness of unit safety program.

Education
Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
OR
Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
OR
Possession of an LL.M., that is related to this position being filled.
