About the Position: The incumbent serves as the Chief, Engineering Directorate for the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Enterprise Information Technology (G-6). As a recognized expert in the field of IM/IT, supervises subordinates in reviewing all major MACOM/DRU IT projects, technical plans, testing and evaluation, as well as managing the USACE Radio Frequency Program and the Telecommunications Systems Engineering/Designs.

Duties

Provides guidance, direction and leadership for engineering initiatives and overall management, control, coordination, and execution of the Directorate’s programs. Responsible for guidance, direction and leadership on management of resources, processes, and information pertaining to the Engineering and Architecture program area. Coordinates all designs with appropriate Division or Office including HQ USACE, DA, DoD and Tracks all G-6 projects and initiatives. Provides technical oversight of projects being executed in the organization. Ensures a comprehensive approach in Architecture changes by ensuring that the IT designs follow standard industry and Corps of Engineers design principles. Develops System Architecture and design documentation for CorpsNet. Using expert knowledge on the DODAF, manages and maintains the USACE IT Architecture. Develops and provides Problem Management Services for G-6 ensuring pervasive customer problems are prioritized and promptly addressed. Manages the comprehensive evaluation and testing (for compliance, performance, integration, and technical soundness) of proposed infrastructure changes to support data delivery within the requirements (including security) of the G-6 program. Supports Change Management by providing design review services and minimizing the impact of change-related issues on current IM/IT systems. Manages the G-6 Telecommunications Systems Engineering/Designs to acquire innovative, secure, customer-focused, cost-effective enterprise IM/IT support services by applying industry best business practices in addressing USACE mission requirements. Develops and provides systems for estimating project scope and cost on various projects throughout G-6.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • The duties in this position meet the security sensitivity definition of SPECIAL SENSITIVE (SS) NATIONAL SECURITY RISK and require a Top Secret SCI Security Clearance.
  • This position requires approximately 50% temporary out of area travel, primarily within CONUS.
  • Incumbent may be required to work overtime.
  • Testing Designated Position (DTP) - this position is subject to pre-employment and random drug testing. THIS POSITION IS COVERED BY THE CIVILIAN DRUG ABUSE TESTING PROGAM.
  • INCUMBENT IS REQUIRED TO SIGN A DA FORM 5019-R, "CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT FOR CERTAIN CIVILIAN POSITIONS IDENTIFIED AS CRITICAL UNDER THE DRUG ABUSE TESTING PROGRAM," OR A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU).
