This position is located in the Washington Headquarters Services (WHS), Federal Services Division (FSD), Facilities Operations and Services Division (FOSD), Defense Mail Services (DMS), which is responsible for providing mail and correspondence assistance to the Secretary of Defense, Deputy Secretary of Defense, Executive Secretary, and their immediate senior staff.
Duties

This position is being filled under Direct Hire Authority (DHA) in accordance with Section 1109 of FY 2020 NDAA; P.L. 116-92 and Section 9905 of Title 5, U.S.C.

Incumbents typical work assignments may include the following:
Oversee the Integrated Tracking System/Digital Mail Modernization (ITS/DMM) Program.
Operate and monitor mail sorter that converts hard copy mail envelops (front & back) into a deliverable digital format (300dpi color).
Monitor service level standards and the effectiveness of digital mail operations in meeting established goals and objectives.
Verify automated tracking and accountability records for each piece of incoming mail.
Identify and process the incoming mail on a priority customer base level.
Identify and processes the incoming mail on a priority Agency/Division base level (within 4 hours).
Provides data entry into the Integrated Tracking System. Operate and trains personnel on the use of personal Digital Assistance (PDAs).
Requirements

You may qualify at the GS-12, level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability to:
plan, organize, and control work involving diverse activities; ability to gain cooperation and coordinate the work of others; and skill in oral and written communications. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:
-Management analyst or technician or other work that included study, analysis, or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of managerial or administrative policies, practices, and procedures.
-Administrative officer or assistant, budget administration, program analysis, or other work that demonstrated knowledge of an organization and its functions, and the ways in which support services can facilitate the work of the organization.
-Office management experience that included responsibility for directing a variety of support services such as typing, mail processing, purchase of supplies and equipment, etc.
-Secretarial work that required monitoring and coordinating administrative and processing work of subordinate elements through a system of internal procedures, controls, production, progress reporting, etc., to insure the efficient operation of an organization.
-Military experience that included responsibility for directing a variety of support functions such as communications, property management, mail service, facilities and equipment maintenance, etc.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
