The Program Support Assistant (PSA) supports activities in the Nurse Executive Service within the Minneapolis VA Health Care System. The PSA utilizes VISTA, web-based applications, Microsoft Office Automation products, AcuStaf scheduling package, VATAS, and other software applications as assigned. The PSA works closely with and provides administrative assistance to the Nurse Executive leadership staff to manage smooth and continuous functioning of the clinical day-to-day business.
Duties
Major Duties include, but are not limited to:
Performs activities that support computerized scheduling and staffing procedures, including
Activates, moves and deactivates staff within computerized scheduling/staffing application
Maintains computerized scheduling program databases for inpatient services as current
Acts as knowledge resource for VISTA, Microsoft Office Automation, Outlook, TMS, and Sharepoint management.
As ADPAC, responsible for IT security and confidentiality for data, network and system access, and accessibility codes
Collects, organizes, and submits forms, documents, and certificates of training
As Timekeeper, oversees the timekeeping function within the office, such as:
Manages timekeeping process and ensures that employee timecards are posted correctly. Ensures that employees are correctly assigned and takes initiative to collaborate with Human Resources and Payroll to ensure all statutory requirements are met
Trains other staff as timekeepers as needed
Responsible for nursing practice standard board database management
Develops and maintains Standard Operating Procedures for nurse boards
Arranges records and minutes for storage, reference, and retrieval
Prepares monthly analysis on compliance for meeting timeliness of nurse proficiencies for executive nursing leadership and uses this data to suggest actions for increased compliance
Performs other duties as assigned
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm
Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. This position may be authorized for Ad Hoc telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/16/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: Supporting a project or program or office; answering and/or directing phone calls and emails; collecting, compiling, and/or tracking data and statistical information; organizing data using a database; maintaining office files and records; and preparing, executing, and/or tracking program-specific information.
