About the Position: This position is with DoD Education Activity (DoDEA), Office of the Director, Strategic and Organization Excellence Project and Risk Management Branch located in Alexandria, VA.

Duties

Responsible for conducting oversight and management of the DoDEA RMIC program to include the development and publication of policies and instructions related to the program. Monitors and evaluates the implementation and effectiveness of the RMIC program across DoDEA and provides feedback and recommendations for improvement. Hosts meetings with internal representatives to discuss the inclusion of risk management and internal controls in operational planning and other cross-functional issues. Reports to the Branch Chief periodically on work accomplishments, problems, progress in mastering tasks and work processes, and individual and team training needs. Evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting, of internal controls over financial system, and of internal controls over operation and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Develops, populates, updates, and maintains an appropriate software system which allows for the sharing of information associated with RMIC that enhances transparency and accountability. Ensures resources, including funds, are requested to support requirements by compiling and analyzing resource data from numerous sources, and submits current and projected funding requirements into annual and future budget activities.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR GS-13 - One year of specialized experience which includes: Evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting, of internal controls over financial systems, and of internal controls over operation and compliance with applicable laws and regulations; Conducting oversight and management of the Agency Risk Management and Internal Control (RMIC) program to include the development and publication of policies and instructions related to the program; Initiates, leads, and executes proposed changes to long-range plans and assesses impacts on requirements; Identifies and communicates risks, deficiencies, and improvement opportunities to management and stakeholders; and Serves as the Organization's representative with the DoD Risk Management and Internal Control (RMIC) events or meetings such as the Risk Management and Internal Control (RMIC) office hours and Fraud Reduction Task Force. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
