You will serve as a RIGGING & CRANE OPERATONS DIVISION SUPERVISOR in the RIGGING & EQUIPMENT OPERATIONS DIVISION, LIFTING AND HANDLING DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will be accountable for the successful execution of assigned projects including, rigging, crane operations, and other productive work.
You will determine work priorities, maintain safe and clean working conditions, develop work arounds, conduct periodic cost and schedule adherence analyses with appropriate corrective actions.
You will advise Division Head of managerial or operational corrective actions considered necessary to improve logistic support, eliminate delinquencies, accelerate deliveries, or otherwise achieve acceptable schedule performance.
You will perform a full range of personnel and administrative supervision over the assigned workforce including: recommending transfers, promotion and demotion, initiating disciplinary actions, conducting performance appraisals, etc.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience working with Shop Work Operations involving various trades.
Experience applying analytical management techniques to include production and management control, cost control, and personnel management.
Experience developing long term training to maintain necessary skill requirements for shop, cost center, etc.
Experience working with negotiated agreement procedures and shipyard instructions to maintain discipline and morale.
Experience maintaining personnel protection programs in conjunction with applicable laws and regulations.
