You will serve as a DEPUTY PROJECT SUPERINTENDENT in the NUCLEAR PRODUCTION OFFICE OF THE NUCLEAR PRODUCTION MANAGER IN THE OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will conduct feasibility studies to determine availability of workforce resources. You will monitor planning metrics to measure planning process accomplishments. You will validate, approve, and control the refueling project budget. You will validate business plans, project plans and operations plans to ensure cost can be mapped to measurable objectives. You will develop refueling schedules for all refueling work with sufficient detail to ensure that the naval nuclear reactor servicing work is performed safely in the minimum time period.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators, and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 general principles of ethical conduct at 5 cfr 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience with the Control of Reactor Servicing equipment (including receipt inspection and equipment checkout) and major pieces of Reactor Servicing equipment used for the relevant project. Experience with sequencing of Reactor Servicing work and the specific technical sequence of servicing operations relevant to the project. Experience demonstrating basic nuclear safety philosophy of Reactor Servicing. Experience with Reactor Servicing casualty response plans and responsibilities outlined in the Manual for the Control of Refueling (MCR). Experience involving Reactor Servicing facility support systems and technical interfaces between Reactor Servicing and other facility organizations.
