This position is part of the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute, Bureau of Indian Education. As a Supv Instructional System Specialist you will be responsible for providing supervisory and leadership duties to the Education, Business and Human Services program as the Department Chair.

Duties

As a Supv Instructional System Specialist GS-1750-12, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision: Provide overall management, supervision and direction to the Education, Business and Human Services Department. Carry out the full range of duties and responsibilities typically related to a college academic program. Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures that support the mission of the college. Provide leadership in the development and oversight of faculty committees charged with developing educational materials and special projects within the academic department. Advise and assist faculty in the planning, creation, evaluation and assessment, validation and update of instructional and pedagogical materials. Participate in evaluating the requirements for emerging technologies, system functionality, and delivery platforms to enhance delivery of instructional programs.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the qualification requirements contained in the OPM Standards. For this position, they are listed below. BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Degree: that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours appropriate to the work of the position to be filled. The course work must have included study in at least four of the following five areas: Learning theory, psychology of learning, educational psychology: Study of learning theories as they relate to the systematic design, development, and validation of instructional material. Instructional design practices: Study of the principles and techniques used in designing training programs, developing design strategy and models, and applying design methods to the improvement of instructional effectiveness. Educational evaluation: Study of the techniques for evaluating the effectiveness of instructional/educational programs, including developing written and performance tests and survey instruments, and determining reliability and validity of evaluation instruments. Instructional product development: Study of the techniques appropriate for developing training materials, including identifying learner characteristics, specifying objectives, applying training strategy, validating training materials, and evaluating training. Computers in education and training: Study of the application of computers in education and training, including selecting appropriate computer software. In addition to meeting the Basic Requirement, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications requirements below. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. GS-12 LEVEL: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Examples include: Educator experience in higher education, teaching, leading faculty and staff in a college/university environment, planning and developing curricula and training materials for education courses; establish, modify, and interpret performance standards and utilize academic records for program assessment and evaluation; and supervise the planning and administration for post-secondary academic instructional program segment, implementing program goals, justifying the costs of the various school programs and authoring key institutional and accreditation reports. Only experience and education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered. Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year (52 weeks) of service at the next lower grade level.

Education
