About the Position: This position serves as the Director of Emergency Services for the Directorate of Emergency Services (DES) which consists of Fire Protection, Law Enforcement, and Physical Security Divisions. Duties

Provides staff and technical advice to the Garrison Commander, Staff, and tenant activities. Exercises full responsibility for program management and supervision of civilian personnel. Conducts internal and external studies to develop guidance, polices, and training exercises. Complies with Executive Orders and other domestic, national security, and Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) mandates. Coordinates the emergency response functions for the U.S. Army Garrison, Picatinny Arsenal. Acts as resources manager for the Directorate of Emergency Services.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position requires the employee to have an be able to maintain a valid state driver’s license.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and Management, Financial Management, Project Management, and Public Safety and Security Separated Military Members: Resumes will be accepted from members of the Armed Forces who indicate in their applications that they are available for appointment within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
