This National Guard position is for a Personnel Security Specialist, Position Description Number NGD2481000 and is part of the JFHQ-G-3. This is a permanent Title 32, Dual-Status position.

Duties
As a Personnel Security Specialist, GS-0080-09, you will:
This position is located at the State's Headquarters ARNG Intelligence and Security Office. This is an Army National Guard (ARNG) Dual Status Technician position requiring military membership. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Personnel Security Specialist, responsible for processing personnel security clearances and all tasks related to the adjudication of personnel suitability case files.

Requirements
- National Guard Membership is required.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
- Must attend the ARNG Security Manager Course within 12 months of hire.
- Must obtain the Security Professional Certification(s) within 24 months of hire.
Qualifications
NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:
Enlisted on up to CPT are eligible to apply. Military grade inversion within the full-time work force is not permitted. The military grade of the full-time supervisor must equal or exceed the military grade of personnel supervised.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/Special Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: All Series GS-0080 personnel must be certified at the next higher level before being eligible for that level. Each applicant must have the education and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series. Applicants must have the experiences, education, or training that demonstrates the ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1 year equivalent to the next lower grade. Experience, education or training in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately. Able to apply procedures and directives by reading and interpreting technical material. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing, using presentation and report formats. Demonstrated ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures. Learned ability to assess the surrounding environment to recognize immediate risk levels. Must have the education and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade for one of the seven organizational program disciplines and its applicable Security Series career.

Skill in applying basic principles, concepts, and practices of the occupation sufficient to perform moderately difficult assignments.

Knowledge of the basic principles, concepts, and methodology used in Security Administration.
GS-07:
You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: 1 academic year of graduate education in a field of study directly related to the work of this position OR Superior Academic Achievement.
OR
Equivalent combination of qualifying graduate education and experience.
GS-09:
You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: A master's or equivalent graduate degree, two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such as a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.
OR
Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education beyond the baccalaureate level.
