The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as a Course Director and Instructor for in-resident and virtual courses within the Force Support Professional Development School portfolio. Duties and responsibilities include course administration and facilitation, instruction, curriculum development, fiscal resource management, research, and consultation as required.
Duties
Performs Course Director duties responsible for the overall development, administration, delivery, and maintenance of assigned courses within the FSPDS portfolio.

Instructs and/or prepares guest faculty to teach assigned courses, which includes familiarization with course materials and a thorough understanding of course content, objectives, assessment, and teaching methodologies.
As a recognized expert in functional areas within the FSPDS portfolio (to include A1/Force Support mission areas and SAF/Protocol), develops and maintains professional contacts with a variety of levels and organizational elements-MAJCOMs, FOAs, HAF, HQ USSF, DoD, OPM, and other government agencies.
Works closely with DAF policy representatives on critical, short-notice education/training needs to meet one-time requirements.

- Students are Total Force DAF personnel and range from junior enlisted personnel, officers, and civilian equivalents to NCOs, SNCOs, FGOs, and civilian equivalents with a broad range in experience and expertise.
- This position requires demonstrated skill in oral and written communications.
- This position requires work outside of normal duty hours, including classroom set-up and tear-down, attendance at student functions, hosting guest speakers, and being available as needed to work with students on course issues or special projects.
- Travel by commercial and/or military aircraft may be required.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes implementation of training methods, techniques, and tools to develop, administer, deliver, and maintain assigned courses and to arrange and moderate seminars and conferences; developing and coordinating academic curricula and to resolve extensive problems caused by the absence of suitable training materials and/or updates to the subject matter; conducting extensive fact-finding and development of source information, and to resolve significant problems in selecting, interpreting, and adapting materials. Integrating policies and procedures into the assigned curricula.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of laws, regulations, precedents, and procedures related to functional areas within the FSPDS portfolio (to include A1/Force Support mission areas and SAF/Protocol).
2. Ability to manage and direct the overall presentation of an in-residence or virtual course of instruction.
3. Ability to research, compile, assemble, construct, and write educationally sound instructional materials and instructor guides for use in classroom instruction; ability to interpret and apply a variety of complex and sometimes contradictory instructions and standards.
4. Ability to effectively instruct specialty materials in various educational mediums and developmental settings.
5. Ability to analyze and validate appropriate assessment instruments to determine level and extent of student learning and achievement.
6. Ability to compose and deliver both written and oral presentations; ability to work effectively and constructively with various groups in accomplishing assigned projects and tasks.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
