About the Position: The mission of the DHA is to serve as a Combat Support Agency (CSA) and lead the MHS integration of readiness and health to deliver the Quadruple Aim: improved readiness, better health, better care, and lower cost. This position is located within the Operations (J-3) and Plans (J-33) branch within the Defense Health Agency, in Falls Church, Virginia.

Duties
Serve as a subject matter expert on the Joint Strategic Planning System and the Joint Planning Process (JPP).
Based on thorough analysis, coordinate with Combatant Commands (CCMD) to ensure CCMD medical planning needs are met.
Coordinate with the Agency’s Education and Training Directorate to ensure CCMD medical planning tool training requirements are met in a timely manner.
Coordinate with CCMD line planners to assist the CCMD planners with understanding the CCMD concepts of operations.
Represent DHA equities on the joint medical planning tools configuration control boards.
Assist the CCMD medical planners with using the joint medical planning tools to conduct course of action and risk analysis.
Work involves participation with joint forces, combined operations, and interagency organizations in support of Homeland Defense.
Represent the J-3 in Joint strategic planning meetings higher levels within the organization, HQ DHA, DOD, and other agencies
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access. A pre-employment and recurring comprehensive background investigations are required.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes participating in planning groups to develop internal operational support plans in support of the agency's combat support mission, developing decision briefings for presentation to senior leadership on findings and/or progress, analyzing results from previous concept plans to develop improved combatant command concept plans for implementation, and overseeing the development of joint medical planning tools. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
