Duties

Plan, organize and lead the operation of several military personnel programs to include DEERS and a variety of individual personnel actions. Formulate and implements plans and policies. Develop performance plans and evaluates work performance of subordinates. Interview candidates for subordinate positions. Recommend hiring, promotion or reassignments. Identify training and developmental needs. Advise the Adjutant General on all matters pertaining to performance. Operate a variety of automated systems supporting military personnel functions.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Employee must be willing and able to travel in military and commercial aircraft and vehicles.
  • Employee may be required to work overtime.
  • Employee may be required to work overtime on an emergency basis.
  • Employee may be required to work other than duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Employee must obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance.
  • In accordance with DoD 1400.25-M, December 1996, Subchapter 610, this position has been designated as "Mission Essential". Employees must report to work in emergency situations.
  • May be required to be on-call after duty hours.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience processing military personnel actions such as the update of various personnel forms, ID Cards & DEERS, in/out processing, promotions/reductions, evaluations, awards, Military Personnel Files (MPF), leaves and passes, and/or military orders; and, utilizing various automated systems to complete reports and/or correspondence. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR B. I have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as Business, Management, Administration. (Note: You must attach copies of your transcripts.) OR C. I have the specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have at least one year of graduate education as described in B, but less than the required two years. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.). (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR D. I have the experience as described in A AND the education described in B. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
