About the Position: Serves as principal civilian staff member responsible for the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC), 599th Transportation Brigade and three battalions, the 835th, 856th, and 837th Transportation Battalions. Acts as the primary focal point and spokesperson for Military Personnel issues and actions.

Duties

Manage military personnel actions for the command. Review and interpret regulations, directives, and reports pertinent to human resources. Manage special projects and events in support of organizational reports, reviews, conferences and ceremonies. Prepare unit responses/reports to higher headquarters inquiries and initiatives concerning new or varied administrative issues, regulations, and procedures under consideration or implementation. Prepare and issue recurring and special reports on military personnel program and administrative functions based on personnel analysis of unit staffing, mission and manning.

Requirements

  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • This position has been designated as Emergency-Essential (E-E) Employee: Incumbent of an overseas position or who would be sent overseas during a crisis situation; position ensures success of combat operations after a mobilization.
  • Incumbent may be required to travel up to 15% to perform duties/attend training.
  • Incumbent will be required to undergo an initial and annual Emergency Essential physical.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing as principal staff advisor to organizational leadership on the management and operation of military and civilian personnel actions, records, and drafting local instructions related to the military personnel program. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Human resource Management, Personnel Management, or Business Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer ServiceInformation ManagementManaging Human Resources Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-???????09).
