Duties

As a OPERATIONS SPECIALIST at the GS-0301-12/13 some of your typical work assignments may include: Serves as Operations Specialist leads working groups and/or operational planning teams (OPTs) and implements recommendations to improve crisis operations, and performance using applicable DTRA and Department of Defense policies and procedures Develops plans and conducts operations to include coordinating, and/or implementing policy and actions to address crisis and other operations and planning support to include COOP. Manages projects to completion and addressing critical shortfalls that may have an impact on mission success, and experience briefing senior leaders. Provides advise on Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) doctrine and TTPs and US chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) defense with the ability to provide decision support in a crisis environment. Assesses alternative approaches to resolving issues and assess and evaluates the operation, status, effectiveness, and efficiency of programs. Provides expert knowledge to other staff members on the Agency's missions, strategies, and goals. Collaborates with other staff sections for both individual and collective military readiness, training, and exercise participation. Assists the Branch Chief in the overall oversight of the Branch support. Anticipates, applies critical thinking and analysis of crisis plans and operations and addresses gaps or critical shortfalls that may impact mission success.

  • This is drug testing designated position.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-GS 13, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service: Serving as an operations specialist responsible for independently leading working groups and/or operational planning teams (OPTs) s and implement recommendations to improve overall functions, operations, and performance using applicable policies and procedures. Managing the development plans, independently conducting operations to include coordinating, and/or implementing policy and actions to address crisis operations support to include COOP. Briefing individuals, groups and senior leaders for real-world strategies, and goals. Managing complex multidomain projects to completion and addressing critical shortfalls that may have an impact on agency mission success. Assessing alternative approaches to resolving complex issues across the agency and assess and evaluates the operation, status, effectiveness, and efficiency of programs. Developing and conducting fact-finding analysis and clarifying identified operational problems that effect the agency. Researching and interpreting federal laws and regulations, policies, and procedures to advise on application of concepts and principles to situations. You may qualify at the GS-GS 12, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service: Assisting as an operations specialist responsible for co-leading working groups and/or operational planning teams (OPTs) s and implement recommendations to improve overall functions, operations, and performance using applicable policies and procedures. Assisting the developing plans, conducting operations to include coordinating, and/or implementing policy and actions to address crisis operations support to include COOP. Assisting with briefing individuals and groups on real-world strategies, and goals. Assisting with managing projects to completion and addressing critical shortfalls that may have an impact on mission success. Assisting with assessing alternative approaches to resolving issues and assess and evaluates the operation, status, effectiveness, and efficiency of programs. Assisting with conducting fact-finding analysis and clarifying identified operational problems. Assisting with researching and interpreting federal laws and regulations, policies, and procedures. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
