Duties
Responsible for day-to-day operations for Multi-Purpose Firing/Photometric Range.
Responsible for ensuring all Range Safety Operations procedures and regulations are strictly adhered to include knowledge on weapon maintenance, operating procedures, proper handling of weapons and ammunition.
Responsible for Arms room supply/equipment logistics, inspections/checklists, record keeping, Storage, Safety adherence and reporting.
Perform assignments in technical support aspects of substantive mission-oriented programs of unusual difficulty and responsibility.
Assignment may involve support for research and development (R and D) projects with goals and objectives like professional level engineers and scientists.
Employee plans and organizes the work; interprets regulations, applies new methods or procedures; and coordinates with others as necessary.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Position is Non-Critical Sensitive (2) requiring a Secret security clearance or the incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- This is a Term position scheduled to last 3 years. A term position may be extended to a maximum of six years depending upon the needs of management.
Qualifications
This position is being filled under the Direct Hire Authority (DHA) Mission Support positions authorized by 85 FR 78829 dtd 12/07/2020.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at the DE-02 (GS-11 grade level or higher equivalency).
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: is defined as one year of experience equivalent to the DE-02 pay band (GS-11 grade level or higher equivalency) in the Federal Service which includes experience in
Interpreting range safety regulations and policy, developing solutions for complex open-ended problems.
Applying knowledge and extensive experience with weapon systems to provide technical support, advice, and guidance for preparation of weapon training/certifications, field-testing, and relevant range-testing specifications relevant to Army and DoD.
Knowledge and expertise on a wide range of Weapon Systems.
