About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the U.S. Special Operations Command, Strategic Systems Support Element (SSSE), Alexandria, Virginia.

Duties

Coordinate and monitor briefings on current operations to DoD leadership and interagency stakeholders. Develop and maintain strategic messaging plans and key talking points for leader engagements and generates products for these engagements. Coordinate with subordinate unit exercise planners to ensure alignment and optimization of desired training objectives. Provide day-to-day direction, execution, and oversight of all operations and activities conducted by the Group, comprised of active duty, reserve, Department of Army (DA) civilian and contract personnel. Coordinate with higher headquarters to develop and implement short-range, mid-range, and long-range strategies and ensure proper alignment of missions. Manage an exercise staff that includes Interagency stakeholders and local law enforcement. Direct the work of subordinate elements to the Group and Group staff, setting priorities and strategies, and ensuring correctness, soundness and accuracy of operational efforts and products.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Individual must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance based on a T5.
  • Must pass the organization’s Personnel Reliability Program which includes credit check, drug screening, polygraph and psycho logical evaluation.
  • Individual must sign a statement attesting to the understanding of DCIPS provisions as indicated in AR 690- 13.
  • Travel may be required up to 35% of the time.
  • Must be willing and able to participate in organization operations and training within and outside of the continental United States.
  • May be required to work overtime or irregular hours.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS/GG-13).
