This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), New England Division, Asset Forfeiture Section. This position(s) primary purpose is to serve as the division's technical expert for seized Assets and Forfeiture program. Overseeing, coordinating, and serving as primary point of contact for all division asset seizure related activities. Review, analyze and/or develop new or improved administrative policies and procedures of all asset forfeitures for the division.

Duties

As a Asset Forfeiture Specialist, your typical work assignments may include: Advising special agents on forfeiture procedures and DEA policies and regulations. Providing training/seminars to educate the division as well as local and state enforcement agencies on the process of the Asset Forfeiture process and provides instruction on goals of the Asset Forfeiture Program. Managing and monitoring three specific account budgets in the asset program: Asset Management, Case Related and Training. Reviewing all internal aspects of management improvement to increase efficiency and productivity of functions and to facilitate better operations, organizational structures, procedures and methods for asset forfeiture. Serves as point of contact with DEA Headquarters elements, and the day-to-day coordination and liaison activities that involve the DOJ, U.S. Marshal Service, U.S. Attorney's Office, state and local enforcement agencies pertaining to the asset program.

  • Applicant must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license while employed in the position and will be required to operate the motor vehicle in accordance with applicable OPM regulations and related requirements of DOJ/DEA.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all of the required qualification requirements described below by the closing of this announcement. Applicants applying for the GS-11 pay grade must meet the following requirements: Have at least one full year of qualifying specialized experience that is at least equivalent in difficulty and complexity to work performed at the GS-09 grade level. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Following advice and guidance to from management officials concerning legal requirements relating to asset seizures; 2) Applying new and improved administrative policies and procedures on the execution of asset forfeitures; 3) Taking training and/or seminars the asset forfeiture processes. Applicants applying for the GS-12 pay grade must meet the following requirements: Have at least one full year of qualifying specialized experience that is at least equivalent in difficulty and complexity to work performed at the GS-11 grade level. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing advice and guidance to management officials concerning legal requirements relating to asset seizures; 2) Developing new and improved administrative policies and procedures on the coordination of asset forfeitures; 3) Providing training and/or seminars the asset forfeiture processes; 4) Assisting with managing budget preparation; 5) Disseminating information pertinent to asset forfeiture policies and regulations. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
