Duties
This position is located at the Natchez Trace Parkway in the district of Natchez, Mississippi.
The primary function of Maintenance Worker is to collect and dispose of trash from roadsides, remove limbs and other obstructions from roadsides, leg stretcher trails and grounds, and clean restrooms and other facilities along the Parkway. Maintenance Workers also operate small equipment such as leaf blowers, string trimmers, Zero-turn mowers, and chainsaws. The Maintenance Worker uses common hand tools to perform a variety of basic repairs and maintenance on all Parkway facilities and assist higher-graded employees on more complex tasks. Maintenance Workers most often work independently and possess all necessary authority and autonomy to execute normal duties. Work is preformed both indoors and outdoors, often during adverse weather conditions. Emergency callouts can occur 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Work requires lifting and moving heavy items, frequent bending, stooping, walking, standing, and working in cramped positions and may involve some climbing.
