About the Position: Serves as an Environmental Protection Specialist for the Environmental Division, Directorate of Public Works (DPW), U.S. Army Garrison Fort Hunter Liggett (USAG-FHL).

Duties

Serve as program manager of the assigned environmental program(s) with responsibility for supporting the command mission. Secure environmental permits and permit modifications for construction, operations and maintenance. Manage preparation of environmental documentation. These duties may be in the capacity of a Contract Officer Representative (COR).

Requirements

  • Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
  • This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This is a Term position scheduled to last 3 years. A term position may be extended to a maximum of six years depending upon the needs of management.
  • Term employment is subject to a one-year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.
  • This position requires the incumbent to complete Contract Officer Representative certification within one year of appointment.
  • This position requires the incumbent to complete Resources Conservation and Recovery Act training to sign hazardous waste manifests within 4 months of appointment.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: as biological sciences, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Specialized Experience GS 11: One year of specialized experience which includes managing and executing environmental programs ensuring that health and welfare aspects of environmental pollution control are adequately protected; providing guidance on environmental issues, and approving government regulatory documents and reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Specialized Experience GS 12 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes ensuring operations in achieving compliance with Federal, State, and local environmental control regulations (e.g., water, air, solid waste, and noise) and that health and welfare aspects of environmental pollution control are adequately protected. Monitor and implement major programs; developing and reviews policy recommendations and technical proposals on environmental issues.
